Last Sunday, the Winning Poker Network hosted its first WSOP Mega-Satellite giving players the opportunity to win $12,500 cash – enough for the buy-in to the World Series of Poker Main Event with something left over for travelling expenses. The event was an incredible success – beating its guarantee by more than 30%.
Last Sunday was another colossal day of action on the Winning Poker Network. As well as its regular Million Dollar Sunday Event, the Network hosted the $420,000 High Five Main Event, a $300,000 Warm Up Event, the $150,000 guaranteed Sunday Special and a further $100,000 guaranteed tournament with a buy-in of just $22.00 that easily surpassed its guarantee.
On top of all that, the Network hosted its “Live Cage” qualifiers and the first of its WSOP Mega-Satellites – $320 buy-in tournaments guaranteeing two prizes of $12,500 that players can take as cash or use to play in the WSOP Main Event. Considering the schedule that preceded it, you might have expected an overlay in such a top-heavy tournament. But, no. The Mega-Satellite attracted 119 entries – beating its guarantee by $10,700, which was paid to the third-placed player.
More about the WSOP Mega-Satellites
The WSOP Mega-Satellites take place each Sunday at [geolink href=”https://www.pokernewsreport.com/americas-cardroom”]Americas Cardroom[/geolink] and [geolink href=”https://www.pokernewsreport.com/black-chip-poker”]Black Chip Poker[/geolink]. Although starting at 5:15pm (ET), players can take advantage of four hours late registration (20 levels) to get involved deeper into the tournament. By the time late registration closes, the starting stack of 7,500 chips is equivalent to a little over eleven big blinds and, as last Sunday´s tournament lasted 35 levels, late registering players could spin a small stack up into a seat at the WSOP in just over three hours.
Up until Sunday June 10th, the Winning Poker Network is guaranteeing two $12,500 cash prizes in each Mega-Satellite. On Sunday June 17th, the Network will be hosting a Mega-Mega WSOP Satellite guaranteeing thirty $12,500 cash prizes (buy-in $540.00) and the following Sunday – June 24th – the Network will host a Mega-Satellite with a $1,050 buy-in guaranteeing a further four $12,500 prizes that players can take as cash or use to enter the World Series of Poker Main Event.
The World Series of Jackpots also Underway
In addition to the WSOP Mega-Satellites, the Winning Poker Network is also hosting special three-handed, hyper-turbo Jackpot Poker games in which, when the top prize is drawn, all three players seated at the table win a $12,500 cash prize. The World Series of Jackpot games have buy-ins of $3 and $30; and, compared to some “Spin & Win” games, the chances of winning one of the top prizes in a $30 buy-in game are pretty good – 60 chances in every 100,000 games.
One WSOP-themed promotion that is yet to set the world alight is the WSOP Step Tournaments. This promotion consists of an eight-stage program of 6-Max Sit & Go games with buy-ins starting at $0.28. Players can buy-in at any stage to accelerate their way to the highest level, which will reward the top two players with a $12,500 cash prizes. Undoubtedly the WSOP Step Tournaments will become more popular as the World Series of Poker approaches, but for now better opportunities exist.
Plenty More Going on at the Winning Poker Network
Although the Winning Poker Network´s featured promotions are tending to be tournament-centric at present, there is still plenty to attract cash game players. The Network´s non-contributory “Beast” rake race bolstered the bankrolls of 221 players last week (23 of whom receive a cash prize of $1,000 or more), and this promotion has now paid out more than $15 million since it was first introduced in August 2012.
There is also the six-stage Elite Benefits program which, at its highest stage, is equivalent to the former Super Nova Elite status at PokerStars. The Benefits program also offers players the opportunity to pick up big cash prizes by collecting Achievement Awards and Levels of Distinction Awards, and – if you are not yet playing at a site on the Winning Poker Network – you could take advantage of one of the easiest-to-clear first deposit bonuses (as well as winning a package to the WSOP).
