Million Dollar SundayFollowing the successful conclusion of its OSS Cub3d series, the Winning Poker Network is planning to run weekly Million Dollar Sunday events next year.

The final leg of the Winning Poker Network´s $14 million guaranteedsite OSS Cubed series finished on Sunday on a high, with both Million Dollar Sunday events crushing their guarantees by $124,000 and $192,500 respectively. The day´s three other feature events also enjoyed bumper entries, paying out more than half a million dollars between them.

Buoyed by the success of the ambitious series, and the success of three Million Dollar Sunday events within eight days (last weekend´s “half-price” Million Dollar Sunday also crushed its guarantee), the Winning Poker Network has announced plans to host million dollar guaranteed tournaments every week next year from January 7th until March 25th.

Plans Confirmed to Poker News Report Today

Suspicions of weekly Million Dollar Sunday tournaments were first raised by 2+2 contributor “ProbablyDrawinDead”, who highlighted the tournaments were already being shown in the tournament lobbies of [geolink href=”https://www.pokernewsreport.com/americas-cardroom”]Americas Cardroom[/geolink] and [geolink href=”https://www.pokernewsreport.com/black-chip-poker”]Black Chip Poker[/geolink]. On further investigation, the tournaments are being advertised with half-price buy-ins of $250.00 + $15.00 (usually $500.00 + $40.00).

The response from the WPN´s representative on the 2+2 forum was that he was unable to confirm the tournaments were taking place; but when we contacted the Network, we were told the plan was for the weekly Million Dollar Sunday events to go ahead as listed in the tournament lobbies. Of course, the plans are subject to change, but this would be awesome news for players on the Network.

What Happened in the Last Three Million Dollar Sundays?

The first of the three OSS Cub3d Million Dollar Sunday tournaments is the most relevant, as this event too had half-price buy-ins. The tournament was played on Sunday October 15th and attracted 4,368 entries – creating a prize pool of $1,092,000. 495 players cashed in the tournament, with “fk poleys” taking home the lion´s share of the money ($157,952) after a three-way deal at the final table.

Last Sunday, the first of the million dollar guaranteed events to get underway was the BOSS Main Event. With its $2,100 buy-in, the tournament attracted 562 entries and easily surpassed its guarantee. Hungarian player Laszlo “Omaha4rollzz” Bujtas took down the first prize of $224,800, while finishing just outside the money in the second of the day´s two Million Dollar Sunday tournaments.

The final event in the trio of Million Dollar Sunday tournaments had a regular buy-in of $540.00 and attracted 2,385 entries – a little short of April´s record entry, but impressive enough considering another million dollar guaranteed tournament was still in late registration. “anythingdk” ran out the eventual winner for $238,500 in a field that included Chris Moorman (501st), Joshua Beckley (635th) and Melissa Bryne (893rd).

Now is the Time to Play at the Winning Poker Network

Over the next ten days, the action on Winning Poker Network sites will likely be significantly subdued – not just because the OSS Cub3d series has finished, but because many of the Network´s best players will be heading over to the Dominican Republic for the Punta Cana Poker Classic. Over the past couple of months, the Network has given away 157 packages to this week´s event, and although those players will still be able to access the poker platform, they should have more important matters to focus on.

The schedule for tonight´s “Xtreme Tuesday”, and tomorrow´s “High Stakes Wednesday” look especially attractive considering that plenty of players will be milking up the hospitality in Punta Cana, and – looking ahead – don´t forget that Sunday´s $150,000 guaranteed “Sunday Special” is still the most valuable online poker tournament open to players in the U.S. – although, of course, players from the rest of the world are more than welcome to join in the action.
