WSOP Takedown

If you are thinking of attending the World Series of Poker this summer to play in the Main Event, you could win your buy-in during WPN´s WSOP Takedown Week.

The Winning Poker Network (WPN) has announced a week of low buy-in satellites and sub-satellites that will qualify players for a special WSOP Main Event satellite on June 9th. However, rather than qualifying players directly into the WSOP Main Event, the satellite will award a minimum of fifteen prizes of $12,500 cash, enabling players to buy into the Main Event with $2,500 left over for travel expenses.

The schedule for the WSOP Takedown Week satellites has not yet been released, but the Network has announced they will take place between Monday June 3rd and Sunday June 9th and start at a $2.20 buy-in level. Alternatively, players can qualify for the Main Event satellite by playing in the Network´s WSOP Steps promotion which – if you join at the lowest Step – starts at a buy-in level of just $0.28.

WPN´s WSOP Main Event Satellite

The WSOP Main Event satellite will take place on Sunday June 9th at 4:00pm (all times ET) at Black Chip Poker and Americas Cardroom. Players who do not want to qualify via the Takedown Week satellites or Steps promotion can buy-in directly for $1,920; and unlimited re-entries will be allowed during the yet-to-be-announced late registration period (which will probably be a minimum of three hours).

At the beginning of the tournament, the starting stack of 10,000 chips will be the equivalent of 200 Big Blinds (blinds start at 25/50 ante 6). Levels increase every 12 minutes, and by the time we believe late registration will finish (at the end of Level 15), the blinds will have increased to 450/900 (ante 100) – meaning that players leaving it until the last minute to enter will have a chip stack worth 11 Big Blinds.

WPN´s WSOP Steps Promotion

The WSOP Steps promotion is a seven-stage Sit & Go promotion starting at level 0 and finishing at Level 6. Players who qualify out of level 6 will win a seat in the WSOP Main Event satellite on June 9th. Players can join the Steps promotion at any of the seven stages – each one being a nine-player Sit & Go game offering the following prizes:

Second

Winning Poker Network´s WSOP Steps Promotion
Step Number Buy-In First Third
Step 0 $0.28 Step 1 $0.30 $0.30
Step 1 $1.65 Step 2 Step 2 $0.30
Step 2 $6.60 Step 3 Step 3 Step 3
Step 3 $16.50 Step 4 Step 4 $25.00
Step 4 $55.00 Step 5 Step 5 Step 5
Step 5 $150.00 Step 6 Step 6 $180.00
Step 6 $540.00 Step 7 Step 7 $660.00

Shrewder visitors to PokerNewsReport.com may notice that the total value of prizes in Step 2 does not add up correctly (i.e. three prizes worth $16.50 does not add up to the total value of the buy-ins – $54.00 after fees). To make up the difference, in this Step, the player finishing fourth will receive a cash consolation prize of $4.50. The two winners of Step 6 will automatically be entered into the WSOP Main Event satellite on June 9th.

Watch Out for Further WSOP-Themed Promotions

It´s not unusual for the Winning Poker Network to host a Steps promotion feeding into a WSOP satellite, or to host a series of sub-satellites to give players the opportunity to win a $12,500 cash prize for just “pennies on the dollar”. However, in the past the Network has also hosted special three-handed, hyper turbo Jackpot games that award all three players $12,500 cash when the top prize is drawn. To be the first to know when the Jackpot games – or any other WSOP-themed promotions – are announced by the Winning Poker Network, be sure to follow @PokerNewsReport on Twitter.
