With four out of five Live Cage events in the bag for 2018, the Winning Poker Network has announced the dates for next year´s $5,000 buy-in live cash games.
Over the last weekend in September, the Winning Poker Network hosted its most successful Live Cage event yet. Forty players took to the felt at the Taormina Casino and Hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica, with the objective of still having chips in front of them by Sunday evening. Nineteen of the forty players achieved their objectives, and sixteen of them returned home with more than the event´s $5,000 buy-in.
Of course, not all forty players ponied up the full $5,000 buy-in. Many qualified via the Winning Poker Network´s Sunday Beast & SNC tournament which awards a minimum of three packages to the event. Players can play in the Beast & SNC tournament for free if they finish near the top of the Network´s Beast or Sit & Crush leaderboard competitions, or buy into the tournament directly for $55.00.
The opportunity to qualify for the Live Cage event via a $55.00 buy-in tournament gives recreational players the chance to mix it up with professional poker players for big money, but with little risk of loss. The experience can be not only lucrative, but is a great way to learn from the pros. Furthermore, the Network also lays on a really good time for everyone who takes part.
Each Live Cage “weekend” takes place from Friday to Monday. Players who win a package via the Beast & SNC tournament are met at the airport on Friday afternoon and are taken to the Winning Poker Network´s offices, where they are given a tour of the facilities and $1,000 spending money to ensure they have everything they need for an unforgettable weekend.
After a Welcome Dinner, players can either chill out in the hotel´s bar, or hit the casino – where the Winning Poker Network hosts a Live Cage satellite for a subsequent Live Cage event. Players who have won a package can either play in this event for free, or chose to forfeit their entry in favour of a live 6 Plus Hold´em tournament that takes place on Saturday the night.
However, before the Saturday night tournament can take place, there is the more serious business of playing Day 1 of the Live Cage – a cash game with four three-hour levels split over two days in which the blinds and antes increase every level. Only players who survive the twelve hours of action will leave the tables with any money in their pockets, but the opportunity exists to win tens of thousands of dollars.
Another of the benefits of qualifying for the Live Cage via a Beast & SNC tournament is that you don´t have to attend the next scheduled event if you don´t want to, and can carry forward your package to any future event. Therefore, if you want to see Costa Rica in the sun, rather than under a rain cloud, you should aim to take advantage of the events planned for earlier in the year. The dates for 2019 are:
If you cannot wait until January 2019 to experience a Live Cage event, you are in luck. The final event of 2018 takes place between Friday November 30th and Monday December 2nd, but it is going to be different from the previous four events inasmuch as it is going to be a Pot Limit Omaha event. This is in response to the Network having a lot of PLO players in its database who have so far been denied the opportunity to test their specialist skills in a live environment.
So, if you felt there was not enough action in a Live Cage event to keep you interested for the full twelve hours – think again. The combination of PLO and the Button Ante Format will ensure there is plenty of action on the tables and some pretty significant pots to play for. Qualifiers for the Pot Limit Omaha Live Cage event are running every Sunday at 6:00pm (ET) at Americas Cardroom and Black Chip Poker with prizes consisting of the event buy-in, hotel accommodation, and a contribution towards travel costs.
