Americas Cardroom is the place to be this weekend if you fancy getting a little extra value from your tournaments – both those with small and big buy-ins.
Americas Cardroom is developing a reputation for some very innovative promotions. The Beast and Sit n Crush leaderboard competitions have been attracting players to the site for almost two years, while Americas Cardroom´s “Elite Benefits” program remains the best player loyalty scheme of any US-facing online poker site.
However, this coming weekend, two of Americas Cardroom´s most recent innovations come under the spotlight, with there being the likelihood of terrific value to be had in the remaining events of the Freebuy Tournament Super Series and the last Super Sunday event before the guarantee starts decreasing.
Freebuy Tournaments Fail to Hit Guarantees
If you missed our explanation of Freebuy Tournaments when the current Super Series was announced, the tournaments are freeroll events that cost nothing to enter, but allow players the option of paid for re-buys and add-ons. The Freebuy series started last Friday and consists of fifty-seven events with combined guaranteed prize pools of $150,000.
Although the tournaments have attracted plenty of players, fewer than expected have used the option of a re-buy or add-on. Typically a tournament will have 4-5,000 players; but only around 10% will re-buy back into the tournament and even fewer have used the add-on option at the end of late registration. To date (after 32 events) only one NL Hold´em Freebuy tournament has reached its guarantee, and some events have seen overlays of up to 70%.
This coming weekend two of the feature tournaments of the series are scheduled to take place – a $7,000 guaranteed event on Saturday (re-buys and add-ons cost $6.00) and a $20,000 guaranteed event on Sunday (re-buys and add-ons cost $20.00). A further eleven events are also scheduled over Saturday and Sunday – with combined guarantees of $27,000.
Remember! These tournaments are free to enter; so, although it is obviously going to help your quest for a major prize if you have the funds to pay for an add-on, you do not have to fund your Americas Cardroom account to play in any of the Freebuy Super Series Tournaments.
Has the Super Sunday Reached its Limit?
The Super Sunday tournament promotion has been a massive success. Started with a guaranteed prize pool of $25,000, Americas Cardroom said it would increase the guarantee for the $215.00 buy-in event by $5,000 each week that the guarantee was met. Last week was the first week since the start of the year that the Super Sunday failed to reach its guarantee, by which time it had grown to a whopping $115,000 – making it the most valuable tournament on any US-facing online poker site.
If the Sunday Special fails to reach its guarantee again this week, the guarantee starts going down by $5,000 per week. With the WSOP just around the corner and the likelihood of smaller fields over the next couple of months, this could be the last opportunity for a while to get involved with such a valuable tournament. Satellites starting from just $7.00 are available in the Americas Cardroom lobby, and a super-satellite guaranteeing 30 seats into the Sunday Special is scheduled for Saturday evening.
If you are not already playing at Americas Cardroom, you are crazy to be missing out on all this potential value. Furthermore, Americas Cardroom has one of the easiest-to-clear first deposit bonuses which could boost your bankroll by up to $1,000.
