Poker in the ParkEven the weather Gods seem to be smiling on this year´s “Poker in the Park” festival which is taking place tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday in Hanover Square, just behind London´s Oxford Circus.

Temperatures are set to 25º and 26º degrees respectively (that´s 77º and 79º in old money) with sunny spells and a gentle breeze from the South.

Full Line-Up of Events Confirmed

As well as Saturday´s British Poker Awards (3.30pm), free poker tournaments are going to be starting every hour in the two “Pokerdomes”, Genting Poker have got their own tent where they will be hosting Sit ´n´ Go tournaments throughout both days (hopefully it is a bit bigger than a tent – or it will be more like a heads-Up) and there is a poker academy tent where you can benefit from free 20 minute training sessions from some of the stars of UK poker who will be attending the event. Check out the UK Poker Player site for an in depth preview of The British Poker Awards (part 1), here (part 2) and here (part 3).

It is Not All about Poker

As well as plenty of poker-related activity, there is going to be a chess marquee, a rummy room and a mahjong pavilion, and PokerStars have sponsored the Main Stage where live bands will be performing. A bar (sponsored by PaySafe) will refresh visitors throughout the festivities who succumb to the summer-esque weather or who find the Calvin Ayre “Ayreheads” a little too hot to handle (red blooded males click here).

Guest Speakers Complete the Day´s Activities

The Pokerfarm have sponsored the main lecture tent which will see an array of poker industry professionals and players talk about poker and provide invaluable advice to those of us who are less experienced. Guest speakers include Sam Trickett, JP Kelly, Sam Razavi and Neil Channing and they will be joined (amongst others) by PokerStars presenter Nick Wealthall, Bluff Europe Poker Academy tutor Paul Zimbler and Unibet coaching pro Alex “Pickleman” Rousso.
