PokerStars UKIPT Brighton Begins This Evening

The latest leg of the PokerStars UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) kicks off in Brighton this evening at the Hilton Metropole for the first day of five at the festival.

Englishman Jamie Burland, who is based in London, saw off 258 other players last year to lift the main event, as well as £65,400 (€74,276/$104,310).

The action begins at 19:00 (BST) today with some side events, ahead of the first of two flights in the £500 (€568/$798)+£60 (€68/$96) main event tomorrow, with organisers expecting yet another big field.

In fact, so sure are they of a massive field that Friday’s second main event flight has been expanded to cope with the numbers.

Next up in the UKIPT schedule is the UKIPT Edinburgh event, which will be the seventh leg on the first season of the tour, and will possess a guaranteed prize pool of £200,000 (€227,169/$319,028) for the four-day stop from August 11-14 at the Corn Exchange.

The main event will be a £500 (€568/$798)+£60 (€68/$96) buy-in, with the number of entrants capped at 700.
