PokerStars has launched a pre-paid MasterCard called “StarsCard”, and with it a new way for players to earn Frequent Player Points when they use the card.
The PokerStars “StarsCard” is a pre-paid MasterCard which is available both as a physical card and a virtual e-wallet. It can be used to make fast deposits and withdrawals from a PokerStars account as well as for making purchases online or at any outlet that accepts MasterCard.
Available to UK players immediately, the card can be funded by pre-paid vouchers (PaySafe, UKash etc), charged up from an existing debit card or money transferred into it via bank transfer or from a PokerStars account. All transactions using the card are secured by MasterCard, and managed by SafeCharge Card Services Ltd, the Dublin-based issuing and program management division of SafeCharge.
In order to encourage players to embrace the new StarsCard, PokerStars is rewarding players with Frequent Player Points (FPPs) for making purchases from their online account or with the physical card. Provided that players spend a minimum of £30.00 per month using their StarsCard account, they will be awarded extra FPPs according to their VIP status. For example:
FPPs earned by purchasing goods and services with StarsCard will automatically be added to players´ accounts, and PokerStars will also send each player a monthly statement informing them of how many FPPs they have earned within the month.
To get a PokerStars StarCard simply log in to your PokerStars account and visit the Cashier. Once in the Cashier, click Deposit, and you will find all your usual deposit options, plus the option to Sign up for a StarsCard
. Simply complete the StarsCard registration form and your account will be set up immediately (provided your PokerStars ID has been verified).
Once your StarsCard account has been set up, you can then transfer funds into it, use it to facilitate player-2-player transfers or make a deposit into your PokerStars account (once the StarsCard account is funded). If you want to get your hands on a physical StarsCard, you can register for one online and receive it through the mail.
Please note that there is a there is a one-off fee of £4.95 for a physical StarsCard, and we strongly suggest that you use a different password for your StarsCard account than you use to log into your PokerStars Account.
My poker pal have a similar card but with cash back at high street stores, they are free and does not tie you into stars, yet another attempt to monopolise the poker community.
