Season four of the PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) will end in São Paulo with the Grand Final being held in Brazil’s biggest city from February 17 to 20 next year.
The R$3,700+R$300 ($2,128) LAPT Grand Final will run alongside one of the South American country’s largest festivals, Carnival, as well as the Brasil Poker Tour (BPT) final, after PokerStars announced that the Sheraton World Trade Center São Paulo will again host an event following the season opener back in February.
Last year’s Grand Final – which first appeared on the LAPT calendar in Argentinian city Rosario during season three – was won by PokerStars qualifier Martin Sansour, of Peru, for $322,280.
Season four is already in full swing, having also stopped off in Viña del Mar (Chile), Lima (Peru), Punta del Este (Uruguay) and Medellin (Colombia), while the first visit to São Paulo recorded the biggest LAPT line-up with 536 players registered.
However, that record was broken in Chile in March – for a 621-player event won by Brazilian Murilo Figueredo for $146,000 – before the Colombian stop in October topped that figure with a 681-player field that was led by Argentinian Julian Menendez for a top prize of $64,710.
Organisers of the Grand Final will certainly hope to see the 600-player limit reached for this event come February – and there is every likelihood their wishes will be fulfilled, particularly as so many visitors will be in São Paulo for Carnival.
Chile’s Alex Manzano, who lifted the LAPT São Paolo back in February for $370,207, will almost certainly be back in Brazil in the hopes of ending the season just as he started – with a victory.
However, you can be sure Manzano will face tough opposition from the likes of Figueredo, Menendez, Uruguay’s Alex Komaromi – who won the Punta del Este title for $244,720 in August – and Peruvian Kemal Ferri after his Lima success in August for $207,400.
If you fancy joining in with the fun – and we don’t just mean the spectacle of Carnival’s parties and parades – then get yourself on over to PokerStars to take part in LAPT Grand Final satellites or visit the official LAPT Grand Final website for more information on the event.
Of course, there will also be numerous side events taking place at the same time as the LAPT Grand Final main event.
