The first news about the PokerStars 2015 WCOOP was announced yesterday – that the $5,200 buy-in Main Event will have a guaranteed prize pool of $10 million.
The PokerStars WCOOP Main Event is the most valuable online poker tournament of the year and, for each of the past eight years, the winner has walked away with a seven-figure purse. This year, PokerStars will be making it nine-in-a-row after announcing that the 2015 WCOOP Main Event will have a guaranteed prize pool of $10 million.
Few other details about the series have been released. All PokerStars is willing to reveal at the moment is that the Main Event will be a two-day tournament starting at 14:30 (ET) on Sunday 27th September, and that step qualifiers are already in the PokerStars lobby with buy-ins starting at 1 Frequent Player Point.
On the basis of previous year´s schedules, the 2015 WCOOP will begin on Sunday 6th September, and PokerStars have filled the gap between now and then with another tournament-based promotion – the Summer MTT Leader Board.
The Summer MTT Leader Board promotion is three separate competitions – one for each of June, July and August – each with $100,000 in prize money being distributed between the top 100 points earners each month. The winner of each leaderboard competition will win $15,000.
Points are awarded according to the regular TLB formula, and unlike the ongoing weekly leaderboard competition – in which only the top ten tournament results are counted – results from player´s top twenty tournaments will be used to calculate their final positions (so there is still plenty of time available to score a cash in June´s leaderboard competition).
Also during June, PokerStars is hosting a Zoom Poker promotion in which players can qualify for up to four freeroll tournaments, each with a guaranteed prize pool of 250,000. To qualify for the freeroll tournaments, players have to win a hand of Zoom Poker ($0.02/$0.05 or higher) with selected starting hands. Each time the mission is achieved, 1,000 chips will be added to the player´s starting stack in the freeroll – up to a maximum of 10,000 chips.
Freeroll Date | Challenge |
Sunday June 14 | Win a hand with Pocket Aces |
Sunday June 21 | Win a hand with Seven-Deuce |
Sunday June 28 | Win a hand with Pocket Kings |
Sunday July 5 | Win a hand with Pocket Queens |
Each freeroll tournament takes place at 14:20 (ET) and manual registration will be open forty-eight hours before the start of each event. Please note that there is no late registration for any of the Zoom Accumulator Freerolls and unused tournament tickets will be forfeited.
There are a few terms and conditions that players should be aware of – for example, players must manually enter the Zoom Accumulator promotion via the “My Challenges” portal in the poker client. The full list of terms and conditions for the promotion can be read on PokerStars´ dedicated Zoom Accumulator page.
If you are not yet playing at PokerStars, you could be missing out of a lucrative poker experience. Not only do players have the Zoom Accumulator Freerolls, the Summer MTT Leader Board competition and the World Championships of Online Poker (WCOOP) to look forward to, but a host of other promotions and one of the most valuable player rewards programs anywhere in the world.
