Partypoker Moves the World Cup of Cards Online

In the poker community, there are plenty of regular live events that amateurs and professional players look forward to. For online poker brand partypoker, the World Cup of Cards is a popular live event, hosted every year in Canada at the Playground Poker Club. This year, the event will be a bit different as the brand has decided to move the Cup to a virtual setting.

COVID-19 has resulted in many events being cancelled or postponed due to travel issues. For the World Cup of Cards, moving the event online allows players to still compete, instead of not being able to travel to the Poker Club due to travel issues or threat of the virus.

Full Schedule of Events

The World Cup of Cards will take place online from June 16 to July 8. The series begins with the Grand Prix Knockout, a $55 event with a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool. Day ones start on June 16 and the final day is set for June 24.

At the same time, players can choose to play in the Mini Grand Prix event, which offers a smaller buy-in of $5.50. The guaranteed prize pool here is $50,000. Both options are available to help players of all bankrolls take part.

Event #2 is the Main Event, with the World Cup of Cards jumping straight into the action. The tournament has a $1,100 buy-in and features a large $1 million prize pool. Satellites for this event are running now at partypoker.

Every Sunday, the site is offering up a satellite with 20 seats to the Main Event. During the week, players can take part in phases satellites. Qualify for as little as $0.01, which makes it easy for anyone to try for a seat once or multiple times!

Phase Satellites

If you decide to go with the Phased option, you can start in any phase. The first phase has a buy-in of $0.01 and runs daily. This satellite offers five tickets to the Daily $4.40 option. Finish this event well and you win a ticket to the next phase. The next option is the $22 phase which puts you in the Final Phase. Make it to the end and you can win one of 20 Main Event tickets.

There are plenty of options for players to take part in satellites. Try the weekly options to get your shot at the Sunday final to potentially win a seat in the big event. Remember too that the schedule is full of affordable events.

With only three events taking place, you either need to compete in the Mini or regular Grand Prix or give the Main Event a shot. Players from around the world will be competing in the event and we should see a good turnout since players can compete from home rather than having to travel to Canada to take part.

Will the guaranteed prize pools be increased due to a larger number of players competing? It would not be surprising to see a huge increase at least in one of the events due to the popularity of the event and the fact that the World Cup of Cards is taking place online this year.
