Party Poker Live has announced it is sponsoring the Triton Million – the biggest buy-in tournament ever – which takes place in London from August 1st to 3rd.
The Triton Super High Roller Series London is going to be one of the most valuable live poker tournament series ever played outside Las Vegas. In addition to a schedule of seven events with buy-ins of between £25,000 and £100,000, the series will be featuring a “Triton Million for Charity” tournament which has a buy-in of £1,050,000.
The million pound buy-in (with the extra £50,000 going to charity) is the highest buy-in for a poker tournament in history – surpassing million dollar events in Las Vegas and million Euro events in Monte Carlo because of the exchange rate. Only invited players are allowed to enter the tournament, which takes place at the London Hilton from August 1st to 3rd.
This is really going to be a classy event. Players are prohibited from wearing hoodies, sunglasses, or hats; and those that reach the final table are required to dress in “formal attire” (think James Bond in Casino Royale). To ensure some of the invited businessmen have a chance to cash in the event, they are being separated from pro players for the first six levels, after which the two pools will be united.
Many of the businessmen will be familiar names to the poker world due to their participation in previous super high roller events. The inclusion of Party Poker Live owner Rob Yong, and several current and former Party Poker sponsored pros, make this a natural event for Party Poker to sponsor – enhancing the site´s profile within the high roller community. The confirmed players for the event are:
Player | Country | Player | Country |
---|---|---|---|
Paul Phua | Malaysia | Cary Katz | United States |
Richard Yong | Malaysia | Tom Dwan | United States |
Stanley Choi | Hong Kong | Daniel Cates | United States |
Wai Kin Yong | Malaysia | David Peters | United States |
Bobby Baldwin | United States | Rui Cao | France |
Liang Yu | Vanuatu | Jason Koon | United States |
Iven Leow | Malaysia | Bryn Kenney | United States |
Rob Yong | United Kingdom | Mikita Badziakouski | Belarus |
Alfred De Carolis | United States | Timofey Kuznetsov | Russia |
Rick Salomon | United States | Sam Trickett | United Kingdom |
Chow Hing Yaung | Malaysia | Stephen Chidwick | United Kingdom |
Each invited player will be offered free accommodation at the London Hilton, as will any other player who spends more than £300,000 on buy-ins during the Triton Super High Roller Series London. Players unable to attend the event can follow the action via a live stream which will also be broadcast on Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube. Speaking about the event, Triton founder Richard Yong said:
“We’re very excited about the forthcoming Triton Poker High Roller Series in London and delighted that Party Poker Live will be joining us for this historic event. Our tournaments really get players’ adrenaline going and now we are about to host the biggest buy-in poker tournament ever held. All those that take part will become a part of poker history as well as helping to raise millions for worthy causes.”
Although not worth quite as much as the Triton Super High Roller Series London, the next PowerFest series will be played between 28th July and 11th August. Party Poker has not yet released the schedule nor announced any promotions to support the series, but we do know the series will have guaranteed prize pools totalling $28 million.
