Eliminate Bertrand “ElKy” Grospellier from tonight´s $20,000 guaranteed Main Event and you will be awarded a $5,300 seat in Party Poker´s MILLIONS Online event.
Party Poker is running a knockout promotion to celebrate its launch in the shared EU liquidity market. Simply eliminate the site’s French ambassador Bertrand “ElKy” Grospellier from tonight´s $20,000 guaranteed “Main Event” and you will be awarded a $5,300 seat in Party Poker´s MILLIONS Online event.
The news that Party Poker was combining its French and Spanish player databases today was slightly overshadowed last week by the start of the World Series of Poker. Little was known about how the launch would happen at the time, but now the new platform is live across France and Spain there is far more information available to players in both countries.
The biggest news for players in Spain is the return of multitable tournaments. Previously, the Spanish site did not have the traffic to host multitable tournaments and very few cash games ran beyond the modest stakes of €0.10/€0.25. Now the new lobby is packed full of cash games, fastforward games, Sit & Go games and a rich selection of multitable tournaments and satellites feeding into them.
To celebrate its launch in the shared EU liquidity market, Party Poker is running a “Main Event” tonight at 8:00pm CET. The tournament has a Progressive KO format, a €109.00 buy-in, and a guaranteed prize pool of €20,000. The star player in the field is Bertrand “ElKy” Grospellier and if a “qualified” player knocks “ElKy” out of the tournament, he or she will win a MILLIONS Online seat worth $5,300.
In order to be a “qualified” player, you have to have a verified account with either PartyPoker.es or PartyPoker.fr. Looking through the Terms and Conditions of the joint liquidity platform, there do not appear to be any restrictions against players from other countries registering (except players in Belgium) provided “You are not excluded or prohibited from playing in accordance with Spanish Law”.
If ElKy is not knocked out by a qualified player – or he goes on to win the tournament – the prize carries forward to tomorrow night, then Wednesday night, then Thursday night. If the prize has not been won by Friday, Party Poker will host a special freeroll tournament for qualifying players who have played in one of the four Main Event, with the MILLIONS Online seat as the prize.
Spanish players starved of MTT and S&G action over the past five years could believe Christmas has come early. Not only is there a full range of games now available to them, but Party Poker is also running leaderboard competitions for both MTT and S&G players with €10,000 in tournament dollars up for grabs across the two leaderboard competitions each week.
Each leaderboard competition caters for high and low buy-ins. For example, the low MTT leaderboard competition awards points for tournaments with buy-ins up to €20.00 and pays one hundred places deep. The S&G competition has three buy-in levels (€0.50-€3.00/€5.00-€10.00/€20.00+) and awards leaderboard points for victories in Heads-Up S&G games in the highest tier.
There is also the promise of a new VIP system in Party Poker´s Terms and Conditions. Details of this are yet to appear on the website or in the PartyPoker.es client, but we are pretty sure it will follow the format of the current .com cashback program. We also expect Party Poker to extend its worldwide World Cup Click Card Championship promotion due to start on June 14th.
With it looking as if Party Poker´s shared EU liquidity market will operate in a similar way to PokerStars´ inasmuch as players from unregulated markets will be allowed to register for accounts, there could be a respectable field playing in tonight´s Main Event. If you are eligible to play on PartyPoker.es, don´t forget you will also be eligible for a 100% bonus on your first deposit up to €500.
The process for registering for an account with PartyPoker.es is the same as registering for an account with the .com platform. Just be sure to enter the Party Poker bonus code [bonuscode room=”partypoker”][/bonuscode] in the first page of the registration process to be sure of qualifying for your bonus. Please also be sure to read the Terms and Conditions of creating an account as these differ slightly from the .com platform.
Finally, you will need to verify your account before being allowed to play on the .es platform. This is a requirement of the Spanish government and involves submitting ID to confirm your identity and address. Party Poker support is available via Live Chat if you encounter any problems. Good luck at the tables and, if you encounter ElKy at the tables tonight, knock him out!
