Whereas some online poker sites tend to scale down their major tournaments during the summer months, Americas Cardroom likes to be different. Therefore, in addition to the $5 million guaranteed Venom event starting on 14th July, the site is hosting another edition of its popular OSS Cubed series a week later with more $13 million guaranteed in prize money.
The schedule for the series has just been released and one of the most noticeable facts about the schedule is that, despite there being fewer million dollar and seven-figure prize pools than last summer´s OSS Cubed series, the total series guaranteed prize money has increased by 30% – implying there´s more up for grabs in smaller buy-in events.
The OSS Cubed series gets its name from the amalgamation of three tournament series that originally were standalone events. Although some of the original principals of “mini” buy-ins, “mid” buy-ins, and “bigger” buy-ins still remain, there´s no real distinction between the Mini Online Super Series (MOSS), the Online Super Series (OSS) and the Bigger Online Super Series (BOSS). For example:
Consequently, what exists now is four weeks of solid action (or five weeks if you include the Venom event), during which players have multiple opportunities to take advantage of generous prize pool guarantees at all buy-in levels. Furthermore, if you enjoy a little variety in your tournament action, you will definitely like what Americas Cardroom has lined up in the OSS Cubed schedule.
With the exception of PokerStars (who some players feel go too far with its novelty events), no online poker site offers more variety in its tournament schedule than Americas Cardroom – and the schedule for the OSS Cubed series does not disappoint. In addition to multiple formats of NL Hold´em in terms of speed, table size, and stack size, the OSS Cubed schedule includes poker disciplines such as NL Omaha Hi/Lo (including a KO event), 7 Card Stud, and 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo.
The two highlights are the OSS and BOSS Main Events (on 11th and 18th August) which both have million dollar guarantees for buy-ins of $540 and $2,100 respectively. Players that don´t have the bankrolls to support buy-ins of this size can take advantage of a comprehensive satellite schedule to qualify for the Main Events, or play in one of the other twenty-four events in the OSS Cubed schedule with guarantees of $100,000 or higher and buy-ins starting at just $22.00.
In most previous OSS Cubed series, Americas Cardroom has run a series of supporting promotions to encourage players to take part in the series. Typically they include reload bonuses, leaderboard competitions, and/or social media competitions in which free tickets are given away. Considering that the Venom event is likely taking up all the site´s promotions budget at the minute, we don´t expect to hear what promotions will be supporting the OSS Cubed series for a couple of weeks.
Nonetheless, if you would like to find out more about the OSS Cubed series, head over to Americas Cardroom today, where the MOSS events and OSS/BOSS Main Events are already listed in the poker client.
