The Winning Poker Network has announced a new three-tier OSS Cub3d series to replace the one previously disrupted by DDoS attacks earlier this month.
At the beginning of the month, sites on the Winning Poker Network suffered severe disruption due to a series of DDoS attacks. The primary casualties of the attacks were the events in the summer OSS Cub3d series – many of which had to be cancelled. The feature Million Dollar Sunday event went ahead as scheduled but, in order to avoid further disruption, the [geolink href=”https://www.pokernewsreport.com/bigger-online-super-series-cancelled-due-to-ddos-attacks-21870″]remainder of the series was cancelled[/geolink].
At the time the cancellation was announced, the Winning Poker Network´s CEO – Phil Nagy – said the entire series would be run again from Sunday 24th September to Sunday 22nd October. Now preliminary details of the rescheduled series have been released, showing that the relaunched series will feature two Million Dollar Sundays and total guarantees of $14 million.
The two Million Dollar Sunday events – both guaranteeing $200,000 to the winner – will take place on Sunday October 15th and Sunday October 22nd at 3:00pm – an hour earlier than usual. The first of the two events will have its buy-in more than halved from $540.00 to $265.00, and the Network has already launched a comprehensive satellite schedule to support the first of the two million dollar events.
There is a full range of daily satellites with buy-ins starting at $4.40 (turbo rebuy and add-on) and $22.00 (unlimited re-entry – 2 seats guaranteed), and sub-satellites feeding into the three Mega-Satellites in the days immediately preceding the first million dollar guaranteed event. The sub-satellites include daily Freebuy tournaments, giving players the opportunity to qualify for the Mega-Satellites for free.
Although the full schedule of events has not yet been released, the combined prize pools of all three OSS Cub3d series (MOSS, OSS and BOSS) will be in excess of $14 million. This is more than double the amount the curtailed summer series was guaranteed for, and not as ambitious as it sounds considering the opening events in the summer OSS Cub3d series were beating their guarantees [geolink href=”https://www.pokernewsreport.com/wpns-oss-cub3d-off-to-a-cracking-start-21835″]by more than 70%.[/geolink].
Alongside the OSS Cub3d events, sites on the Winning Poker Network will be hosting qualifiers for the Punta Cana Poker Classic in the Dominican Republic at the end of October. Thankfully, the resort at which the Punta Cana Poker Classic will be held – the Melia Caribe Tropical Resort – escaped Hurricane Irma with only minor damage, and the live tournament series will go ahead as planned.
For players who fail to win one of the fifty Punta Cana packages up for grabs over the next few weeks, the Winning Poker Network has announced Bitcoin buy-ins will be accepted for the $500,000 guaranteed Punta Cana Poker Classic Main Event and the dozen side events that complete the week of action. Players can also request their winnings are paid in Bitcoin to avoid taking cash back into the U.S.
This is the first time (as far as we know) that Bitcoin has been accepted as a buy-in for any land-based poker tournament, and it is likely to be a popular option among players who have experienced issues with carrying large amounts of cash across international borders. It could be something we see being introduced into more live poker events in the near future.
If you are not familiar with Bitcoin, or have looked into it before and have questions you would like to ask, Americas Cardroom has produced a series of videos explaining more about the cryptocurrency – the first of which about getting started is featured below. Americas Cardroom also provides live support twenty-four hours a day to answer any questions you may have about playing at the site.
You can use Bitcoin for the buy-ins at the Punta Cana Poker Classic and to make your first deposit at Americas Cardroom. Remember to create your account using the [geolink href=”https://www.pokernewsreport.com/americas-cardroom”]Americas Cardroom bonus code[/geolink] “[bonuscode room=”partypoker”][/bonuscode]” to qualify for a 100% match on your first deposit up to the equivalent of $1,000, plus the opportunity to participate in the “Twenty Days of Free Poker” promotion available to new players.
