GGPoker is highlighting the game of Omaha with a new online poker series titled Omaholics.
The game of Omaha is not one that is usually the main attraction of an online poker event or series. However, GGPoker has decided its high time that Omaha was given its due respect. Instead of offering a poker series with a few Omaha events, the online poker room has decided to launch a full series dedicated to the game. Titled Omaholics, the new series will start this weekend and feature several Omaha-themed events.
The Omaholic series will start this weekend run through March 28. There will be a whopping $7 million in total prize money up for grabs. This is perhaps the biggest series to ever feature Omaha in the online poker realm and will certainly be exciting for fans of the game format.
While the schedule is full of items, there key events that will peak player interest. First is the Omaholic Bounty King set for March 14. This event will have a buy-in of $315 and $75,000 up for grabs. That same day, GGPoker will host a Super High Roller with a $10,300 buy-in. This event has a large, guaranteed prize pool of $500,000.
Fast forward to the end of the month and you have the Mini Main and regular Main events. The Mini is scheduled for March 21 and has a low $55 buy-in. A total of $500,000 is up for grabs. The regular Main Event begins on March 28 and will have a $400 buy-in. This tournament has double the prize money of the Mini with $1 million on offer.
There is plenty of additional action to find on the Omaholics schedule including Bounty Turbos, turbos, standard bounties, traditional Omaha events and more. The full schedule is already posted at GGPoker and can easily be viewed to set up your tournament plans.
Buy-ins start at $1 making the series very affordable. Players can compete for $100 to $10,000 in prize pool guarantees with the lower buy-in events.
Along with announcing this new tournament series, the online poker room has also decided to start a new poker team based on the game of Omaha. The OmahaSquad was introduced this week, featuring Fernando Habegger and Sasha Liu. The team only consists of two players currently, but the number of members should grow over time to include additional professionals.
The OmahaSquad can be found online in events as well as taking part in live events when they are scheduled. Both players on the team are seasoned pros and enjoy playing the game, as it offers something different than the traditional Texas Hold’em.
GGPoker is thinking outside the box with its OmahaSquad and Omaholics series. It is interesting and quite refreshing to see a brand focus on something other than the traditional and provide many ways to experience the game.
If the new series is successful, it would not be surprising to see GGPoker add another series based on the format or go even further and perhaps offer something even more with many other online poker formats and variations.
