Nominations Announced for the European Poker AwardsOnline nominations closed just before Christmas for the Global Poker Index sponsored European Poker Awards and the list of nominees has just been released.

Back in November, members of the poker-playing public were asked to nominate their favourite players – or players who had most inspired them – in eight different categories. The most popular nominations have just been announced and the winner of each category will be revealed at the Aviation Club de France in Paris on January 22 (not on the 23rd as originally scheduled) after a jury of eight selects their champion from the public´s choice.

Despite the strong presence of French nominees for an award ceremony being held in Paris, supporters of the British hopes will be will be cheered by the news that Joe “Hendon Mob” Beevers and Barry “Poker Strategy” Carter are among the jury of eight; with the remainder of the judges being Nic Szeremeta (the creator of the event), Stephan Gollubits, Jerome Schmidt, Alexandre Dreyfus, Michael Michelin and Jesse May.
