The twenty-first season of Mini-FTOPS started last night, victory in the first event going to “thejuice514” after a heads-up deal with “Beswick22”.
The two players outlasted a field of 23,739 who smashed the $300,000 guarantee for the $22.00 buy-in event and created a prize pool of $474,780. An incredible 2,835 players cashed in the event that took twelve and a half hours to complete and, at the conclusion of which, saw “thejuice514” collect $62,431 and a valuable 200 points for the Mini FTOPS Leaderboard competition.
The $3 million guaranteed Mini-FTOPS series is being run in exactly the same format as the FTOPS XXI Series which was hosted on Full Tilt Poker just before Christmas. 35 tournaments are scheduled up until Sunday 20th January, with buy-ins one tenth of what they were for the FTOPS XXI Series and plenty of “multi-entry” events for players to participate in.
The conclusion of the series will be a $75.00 buy-in “multi-entry” Main Event, with a prize pool guarantee of $750,000. However, for players with limited bankrolls, satellites for all the events in the Mini FTOPS series start at $0.50 or 50 FPP.
Monday´s Highlights in Mini FTOPS XXI
Today, there are three tournaments scheduled to take place. Mini FTOPS #2 is a $22.00 buy-in Pot ¨Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 6-Max tournament which starts at 11.00am ET (4.00pm GMT) and has a guarantee of $20,000. Late registration is available for two hours, but be careful if you are aiming to satellite your way into this tournament, as there are several Omaha Hi/Lo tournaments in the regular Full Tilt Poker tournament schedule on Monday mornings which do not offer seats into the Mini FTOPS event.
The cards are in the air at 2.00pm ET (7.00pm GMT) for today´s feature tournament – Mini FTOPS #3. This $109.00 buy-in multi-entry NL Hold´em tournament has a guarantee of $150,000 and late registration up until the end of Level 10 (two hours). Again, you should take care when entering this event not to click on the $1,060 buy-in NL Hold´em tournament which appears in the tournament lobby immediately above the Mini FTOPS event and starts at exactly the same time!
Possibly the most popular event in the day´s proceedings will be Mini FTOPS #4. This event is a $22.00 buy-in Turbo Rush Poker tournament with a $50,000 guarantee. The game starts at 5.00pm ET (10.00pm GMT) and has only 3 minute levels for the first half an hour (when late registration ends) increasing to 4 minutes thereafter. Despite a potential entry in excess of 4,000 players, this tournament should in the bag within a couple of hours!
