Poker is a game for individuals, as we all know. Or is it? Well, not if you want to take part in a special online Team Challenge tournament being run by the organisers of next month’s Goliath event in Coventry, England.
Running from August 24-28 at the Ricoh Arena – home of football team Coventry City – organisers of this £100+£20 buy-in tournament are also offering a Team Challenge event that possesses a $1,000 (approximately £614 or €700) prize for five-player teams who take part in the private online tournament.
The team tournament winners – with each member picking up points for in-the-money placings that count towards a total team score – will also gain an entry into next year’s Goliath, as well as the cash and a trophy.
Meanwhile, next month’s five-day Goliath event, at the G-Casino, possesses a £100,000 prize pool guarantee, while a Grovesnor United Kingdom Poker Tour (GUKPT) main event seat valued at £1,000 will also be handed out during a special free draw when the field reaches 800 contestants.
Satnam Sandhu was named as the fortunate winner of the first Landmark Giveaway prize when the starting field hit the 400 mark last time out, although that number has been significantly increased as organisers expect many more entrants at next month’s tournament.
The main event winner will leave with £25,000 from that guaranteed prize pool put up by organisers G Casino – in association with promoters D4 events.
The Goliath will create a new European record for entries with an expected 1,600 players taking part over three start days, with 25% of their registration fee of £20 going to the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.
