888Poker is hosting two freeroll tournaments that will reward the top five players in each with seats worth $200 for Sunday´s $100,000 RakeLESS Mega Deep event.
For a couple of weeks, 888Poker has been running some of its major Sunday tournaments rake-free. Considering that a large portion of regular major players have been unable to access the site (due to being in Las Vegas to play in 888-sponsored WSOP events), the promotion has been fairly successful – with good numbers entering the tournaments each week.
This coming Sunday (7th July), the site is running four more RakeLESS Sunday majors – the biggest of which is the $200 buy-in Mega Deep event at 4:30pm (all times GMT). To support the $100,000 guaranteed event, 888Poker is running a comprehensive satellite schedule with buy-ins for sub-satellites starting free just ten cents. You can also qualify for the event via two special freeroll tournaments.
The RakeLESS Mega Deep Freeroll Tournaments
The RakeLESS Mega Deep freeroll tournaments will take place on Friday and Saturday evening at 7:00pm (so, 8:00pm in you live in the UK, or 9:00 if you live in Western Europe). The tournaments can be found in the RakeLESS lobby of the tournaments tab under the name “RakeLESS Sunday Freeroll” and registration for each freeroll opens two hours before the start of the tournament.
The tournaments have a hyper-turbo structure with blinds starting at 25/50 (ante 10) and increasing every five minutes. It´s not known how long late registration will last; but, by the end of Level 10 (that´s just thirty minutes into the tournament) the starting stack of 5,000 chips will be the equivalent of one Big Blind and one ante. The top five players in each freeroll will win seats in Sunday´s Mega Deep event.
Sunday´s RakeLESS Mega Deep Event
By comparison, Sunday´s RAKELESS Mega Deep is a much more sedate affair. The starting stack of 50,000 chips will still be worth ten Big Blinds at the end of four hours late registration, during which time players can re-enter up to a maximum of five times if they have the misfortune to be eliminated early – each re-entry costing the same amount as the direct buy-in ($200).
Based on the number of entries required for the event to break even (five hundred), the top sixty-three players will cash in the event, with the winner picking up a very handy $19,000. That´s not a bad payday if you manage to qualify for the event for free, or if you win your seat in a Mega Deep satellite after start your quest to the target event at the ten cents level.
Sunday´s Other RakeLESS Tournaments
Sunday´s other RakeLESS tournaments at 888Poker consist of a $25,000 guaranteed “mini” Mega Deep event (at 4:31pm), a $3.50 + $3.50 buy-in Progressive KO event (at 5:00pm), and the $100 buy-in Sunday Challenge (at 6:35pm). All three have an attractive format and would be worth playing in even if 888Poker was charging a rake to enter them.
The $100 buy-in Sunday Challenge should be on the radar for every new player at 888Poker. This is because, as part of the Welcome Package, 888Poker hosts a first time depositor freeroll at 7:00pm on Friday evenings. Only first time depositors can play in the freeroll, and the top ten players win a seat in the Sunday Challenge – which this coming Sunday has a prize pool guarantee of $25,000.
