The move – which affects both the .com and .fr poker sites – has been brought about due to a slump in traffic in the two poker rooms, with the number of players participating on the cash tables having fallen by up to 40 percent in the last six months. Although some of this downturn has been attributable to regulation in the Italian and Spanish markets – rather than anything Everest have done wrong – concerns about future liquidity have forced Betclic-Everest´s hand and cost them their independent status.
Although it is unlikely that the new Betclic-Everest poker room will qualify for the new A
division of the iPoker Network, the pooling of Everest players with those on other iPoker skins (who have not achieved the required grade) will be of benefit to all players in the B
division of the iPoker Network and enable existing players on the Evert Poker site to gain access to iPoker´s fast-fold poker product Speed Holdem
.
Exactly when the transition to the new platform is going to take place is not yet known, however Roei Gavesh – Head of Poker at Playtech – issued a statement welcoming Betclic-Everest to the Network:-
We are very happy to welcome Betclic-Everest into our dot.com and dot.fr networks. We are confident they will be in great synergy with the upcoming recreational structure. It’s a win-win merge which will secure iPoker’s dominance in the B2B market.
