Ruben VisserOn Thursday a whole host of big-name players took their seats inside the Casino San Remo for the second starting day of the 2011 PokerStars.it European Poker Tour San Remo Main Event which had a buy-in of €5,300.

A total of 549 players entered on Day 1B, meaning a total number of entrants of was 987 players which created a total prize pool of €4,786,950. The top 144 players will cash with €930,000 set aside for the eventual winner on Tuesday 3rd May.

Defending Champion and Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree took her seat on Day 1B however her dream of defending her title was crushed and she was eliminated just past the half-way point.

Around 40% of the entrants are from Italy, however two of their biggest players were eliminated as both Team PokerStars Pro’s Dario Minieri and Luca Pagano failed to make it through the days play.

Of the 549 entrants, a total of 249 players managed to survive the day. The player who excelled throughout the day to finish as Day 1B and overall tournament chip leader was Team PokerStars Pro Ruben Visser who is from the Netherlands. Visser managed to accumulate a mountain of 251,500 chips followed closely by Nicolas Chouity who finished with 233,400 chips.

Among the other Team PokerStars Pro’s who participated in the tournament on Day 1B were Victor Ramdin (190,500 chips), Vanessa Selbst (160,500), Joe Cada (135,500), and Russian Maxim Lykov is still in contention.

Day 2 begins on Friday at 12pm local time and will see the 460 remaining players return hoping to increase their stacks further. As usual, stay tuned to PokerNewsReport.com for the latest updates from the event.
