Bovada kicked off its 86-event $850,000 guaranteed Black Diamond Poker Open tournament series yesterday that is available to players worldwide.
Bodog’s U.S.-facing site Bovada Poker began its Contender Series on Sunday, Feb. 10 with a $20 + $2 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Kickoff Event featuring a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool. The Contender Series consists of 43 events and runs for 15 days through Feb. 24. Buy-ins range from $3 + $0.30 to $50 + $5, but the majority of the tourneys can be entered in the middle of that range with fees such as $10 + $1 and $20 + $2. Satellites are running now that allow players to win entries at a fraction of the buy-in.
Though Bovada is typically known as a U.S.-friendly poker room, players from Canada can also take part in the Black Diamond Poker Open via the Bodog Poker client. That makes for exciting tournament action with players from around the world. The vast majority of the events will be No-Limit Hold’em, with a sprinkling of Omaha, Stud and Fixed-Limit action tournaments also available.
Following the Contender Series in February that offers $150,000 in guarantees, the Championship Series will host 43 events and begin on March 10 and also run 15 days through March 24. The guarantees for all the events combined equals $700,000 and features higher stakes than the Contender Series with entry fees of $20 + $2 all the way up to the Main Event’s buy-in of $425 + $25. But again, most buy-ins of the Championship Series will fall somewhere in the middle of that spectrum, with a multitude of satellite tourneys available.

The Bad Beat Bonus is even more lucrative! If you lose a hand holding Aces full of Kings or better while your opponent has four of a kind or better, you’ll receive a bonus of 100 times the big blind up to $1,000! You must be seated at a Texas Hold’em cash table and the hand must progress to the showdown to be eligible. This is an excellent promotion that does not require you to be playing at a bad beat table that rakes every pot in order to build a jackpot!
