To celebrate the Indianapolis 500 event this weekend, BetOnline Poker is hosting a three-day “500 Turbo” tournament series from Saturday to Monday.
This coming Sunday sees the highlight of the 2019 Indy Car racing season when thirty-three drivers will take their place on the grid for the 2019 Indianapolis 500. If you are not familiar with the event, it consists of a 200 lap race around a 2½ mile oval circuit at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, during which the cars will reach speeds in excess of 230 mph (370 km/h) along the straights.
The race has been called “the greatest spectacle in racing” and will likely attract a sell-out crowd of 300,000 plus a further 5 million viewers on NBC. Such is the high profile of the race, this year´s event will be started by Hollywood legends Christian Bale and Matt Damon, and the winner of the race will pick up a first prize approaching $2.5 million.
BetOnline Poker´s 500 Turbo Tournament Series
Although there´s nothing like the same prize money on offer for BetOnline’s Poker 500 Turbo tournament series, it is still quite a decent series. There is plenty of fast-paced action and variety among the schedule of fifteen turbo events, and – like the Indianapolis 500 race – there is the likelihood of multiple crashes and hard luck stories.
The series gets underway at 3:00pm (all times ET) on Saturday with five events starting at two hour intervals and, following a similar distribution of tournaments on Sunday, concludes on Monday (Memorial Day in the U.S.) with a further five events starting at 12:00 noon and featuring a $5,000 guaranteed Main Event at 4:00pm. The full schedule is:
|BetOnline Poker 500 Turbo Series Schedule|
|May 25th||5:00pm||6+ Poker||Re-Entry||$5.50||$750|
|11:00pm||NLHE||Rebuy & Add-On||$2.20||$1,000|
|5:00pm||NLHE||Rebuy & Add-On||$11.00||$2,000|
Qualify for the 500 Turbo Main Event for $0.22
Prior to the feature tournament of the 500 Turbo Series, BetOnline Poker will be hosting a $0.22 buy-in mega-satellite guaranteeing fifty seats for the Main Event. The hyper-turbo mega-satellite gets underway at 12:00 noon on Monday, and players start with 5,000 chips and blinds of 25/50 (ante 6) which increase every three minutes.
Unlimited rebuys of 5,000 chips are available during the 45 minutes of late registration, and at the end of the rebuy period, the opportunity to purchase a 10,000 chip add-on also exists. However, players leaving it until the last minute to register are likely to be at a huge disadvantage because, by the time the mega-satellite reaches Level 15, blinds will have increased to 250/500 (ante 60).
Have You Got the Pace to Play in the 500 Turbo Series?
Not only is the 500 Turbo Series quite a cool idea, there is plenty in the schedule to keep everyone entertained. It´s a good opportunity to try your hand at 6+ Poker in tournament format if you have never played it before, or dislike the variance of short deck poker in ring games, and watch out also for the fast-fold Boost KO tournament on Saturday, as that promises to be something special.
Furthermore, if you get knocked out early from a 500 Turbo series tournament, you can fill your time waiting for the next tournament to start by playing in BetOnline Poker´s new Cash Race. There´s a total of $15,000 up for grabs every week until June 15th, and further information about this promotion can be found on the BetOnline Poker website.
