It´s not a bad time to be playing at Party Poker if you are a fan of valuable online poker tournaments. In the last couple of months there has been a Monster Series, a PowerFest Series, and an Omaha Series, which between them distributed more than $47 million in prize money. If you factor in Party Poker´s Big Game and regular Power Series, there´s been over $100 million changing hands in the past eight weeks.
There´s no stopping the action over the next couple of weeks either, as Party Poker´s KO Series gets underway next Sunday. The series will run for two weeks, during which time there will be 226 events guaranteed for a combined total of $30 million. That´s as much as April´s PowerFest series was guaranteed for, which demonstrates the increasing popularity of progressive knockout tournaments.
The highlights of the KO Series are the ten Championship Events that take place over the three Sundays of the series. Each one has a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million – with the exception of the Super High Rollers Championship Event on Sunday 26th May which is guaranteed for $2 million. Buy-ins for these events start at $320, but you can win a seat for just $5 by playing KO Series Spins games (details below).
You can also win a seat in a $320 buy-in Championship Event by playing in Party Poker´s phased satellites. These have a buy-in of just $5.50 and follow the same format as Party Poker´s phased tournaments inasmuch as players who survive the twenty-four levels of Phase 1 carry forward their chip stacks into Phase 2, which – in this case – guarantees fifty seats for the target event.
The remainder of the schedule is typical of a tournament series hosted by Party Poker. Events go off in two hour cycles of three or more tournaments at a range of buy-ins to suit players with bankrolls to support micro, low, medium, high, or high roller events. There is also a good mix of formats and speeds – although it would have been nice to see a PL Omaha KO event among the schedule.
Building on the popularity of its three-handed, hyper-turbo Sit & Go games, Party Poker is running a special series of Spins games for the KO Series. Each game costs $5 to enter; and although the majority of prizes consist of $10 cash or $20 cash, there is a chance you might be rewarded for your efforts with a KO Series tournament ticket valued at $5,200.

The Spins games are definitely worth having a go at if you don´t have the time to play in Party Poker´s phased satellites or don´t fancy taking a chance in one of the site´s generous MTT hyper-turbo satellites – which have been undersubscribed over the weekend, and represent terrific value if you are one of the lucky players to win a seat.
