The first eighteen events in Americas Cardroom´s OSS Cubed three-tier tournament series have smashed their guaranteed prize pools by 50% or more.
Last Sunday, Americas Cardroom embarked on one of its most ambitious tournament series to date – OSS Cubed. The series consists of four weeks of high octane action, with low buy-in events dominating the opening week (the Mini Online Super Series) before the primary events get underway in the Online Super Series and Bigger Online Super Series for high rollers.
Despite the modest buy-ins for the opening events, Americas Cardroom had put some decent guaranteed prize pools up for grabs. Incredibly these have been smashed out of the ball park during the first three days of the series, with all eighteen events exceeding their guarantees by 50% or more – with some paying out more than twice as much was guaranteed.
Good Structures Contribute to Fantastic Entries
From the opening event of the series, you just knew something incredible was going to happen. Event #1 was a $5.50 buy-in NL Texas Hold´em tournament with deep stacks, gently increasing blinds, twelve minute levels and a $15,000 guarantee. More than 4,500 players contributed to a $23,390 prize pool that was shared between 540 players – “why_wouldnt_we?” taking home the first prize of $3,703.
Better was yet to come when Event #2 – a $55.00 buy-in NL Texas Hold´em tournament with a similar structure – attracted 3,495 players to smash the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool by almost 75%. “Jao” led the 396 players who cashed in the event by taking home the first place prize of $27,872, and a similar pattern of guarantee-busting entries continued throughout Sunday´s and Monday´s action.
However, it has not been just the NL Texas Hold´em events that have been filling the tables at Americas Cardroom. Yesterday afternoon´s $5,000 guaranteed PL Omaha tournament paid out $8,930 and, six hours later, 1,078 players entered and re-entered the $2.20 buy-in 6-Max NL Omaha Hi/Lo tournament – more than doubling the event´s $1,000 guarantee.
The Biggest Events are Still to Come
What has happened so far this week has been amazing, but it might just be a prelude of what is yet to come. This coming Sunday, Americas Cardroom hosts the Mini Online Super Series Main Event – an $88.00 buy-in NL Texas Hold´em tournament with a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool. There are two midweek events next Wednesday and Thursday with guaranteed prize pools in excess of $100,000, and the following weekend´s Sunday Special has a guaranteed prize pool of $350,000.
On Sunday April 30, Americas Cardroom hosts its $1,000,000 guaranteed Million Dollar Sunday, and there is a further $2 million guaranteed during the following week in the Bigger Online Super Series – plus a special Cage event with a $5,000 buy-in. The series was guaranteed by Americas Cardroom for $5.5 million but, based on what has been seen to date, the likelihood is that the site will be paying out $7 million, $8 million or even $10 million over the next four weeks.
