Although the 888Poker LIVE event in London only gets underway today, the site is already whetting players’ appetites for its next LIVE event in Bucharest.
Starting today, [geolink href=”https://www.pokernewsreport.com/888-poker”]888Poker[/geolink] takes over the Aspers Casino in London for its first LIVE extravaganza of the year. The event lasts until Sunday and features a £440 buy-in Main Event with a £120,000 guarantee. As an extra incentive for players to take part in the Main Event, the winner will also receive a $12,600 package to the WSOP Main Event in July.
However, even before the cards are in the air for the first event of London LIVE, the site is whetting players´ appetites for an even bigger LIVE tournament series taking place next month at the Intercontinental Hotel in Bucharest from March 4th to March 10th. The series will consist of seven feature events plus a host of satellite opportunities.
If you are thinking of travelling to Bucharest to play in the LIVE series, you may need to give the schedule some scrutiny. Although it has been carefully put together, there are some overlapping events – for example, the final day of the Opening Event coincides with Day 1A of the Main Event and the Ladies Event clashes with Day 1C of the Main Event, so you may not be able to play in every tournament.

Although 888Poker has not yet announced the guarantee for the Bucharest LIVE Main Event, it´s probably going to be irrelevant anyway. Last year the Main Event was guaranteed for €288,000, but with 469 entries, the prize pool totalled €360,192 – local player Andrei Racolta taking home the first place prize money of €71,042. As with the current London LIVE series, the winner of the Bucharest LIVE Main Event will also win a package to the WSOP Main Event in July.
As usual, 888Poker is trying to qualify as many players as possible for its LIVE series via a six-stage Steps program starting at $0.01 and a comprehensive satellite schedule feeding into Main Event Qualifiers that have a direct buy-in of $109. Each Main Event Qualifier guarantees a minimum of one package for Bucharest LIVE which consists of:
It is worth pointing out 888Poker is being very flexible with its Steps program. The Steps games are scheduled Multi-Table tournaments rather than Sit & Go games that take forever to fill, they can be bought into at any level, and – if you win a seat into the next level – the ticket can be used to play in any “regular” online tournament – i.e. there is no compulsion on you to keep playing in Steps games.
Last month we wrote about how 888Poker is running a “Road to Vegas” promotion giving players the opportunity to qualify for the WSOP Main Event from just $0.01. Since then the site has extended the promotion to include qualifiers for the 888Poker-sponsored Crazy Eights tournament and also announced preliminary details of Barcelona LIVE which will feature a €1 million guaranteed Main Event.
If you have never experienced the party-like atmosphere of an 888Poker LIVE event, it is well worth making the effort to qualify for one of the site´s live poker series; and, if you never played at the site before, you may be eligible for a no deposit bonus of up to $88.00 to help start your qualifying path. Full details of the no deposit bonus and an exclusive offer when you make your first deposit can be found in our 888Poker review.
