WSOP 2019

888 Poker wants to send you to this year’s WSOP Main Event and is running mega qualifiers for $12,600 prize packages starting at just one penny.

Those qualifiers have already begun at 888 Poker even though the 2019 WSOP won’t kick off for another four months. It’s best to secure your $10,000 Main Event seat as early as possible, leaving plenty of time to make additional plans for your stay in Las Vegas.

The WSOP festival will be held from May 28 through July 16, 2019, with more than $200 million in prize money expected to be paid out after all is said and done. The WSOP is reaching a milestone in 2019 as it’s the series’ 50th anniversary and 888 Poker holds the distinction of being the official sponsor.

Step Qualifiers

In addition to the 1 cent qualifiers, several other low buy-ins to qualify include 10₵, $1, and $5. These events are step qualifiers, meaning that the top finishers will progress to the next step in pursuit of landing a $12,600 prize package that includes the $10,000 buy-in for the Main Event, $1,000 for travel costs, a 6-night stay from July 4-10 at the splendid Vdara Hotel, a fabulous welcome party, and transportation from the Vdara to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in order to play poker.

To begin the dream of earning a WSOP Main Event seat via online qualifiers, simply log on at 888 Poker, click on “Tournaments” and then click on “Live Events.” You will see the daily qualifiers available at a number of different price points. They will run through June 16.

Players hoping to avoid some steps by buying in at higher entry fees can aim for the $16.50 daily qualifiers or the $109 buy-in Sunday Qualifiers, the latter event guaranteeing 5 seats to the next step – the $1,050 qualifier. The goal is to progress to the $1,050 WSOP 2019 Main Event Package Qualifiers that will be played every Sunday at 20:30 GMT beginning January 20.

The 2019 WSOP Main Event is structured as a freezeout tournament with a starting chip stack of 60,000 and the somewhat new format of Big Blind Ante. Its poker’s most prestigious tournament and it begins with Day 1A on July 3.

Other Key Events

Of course, players can expect an action-packed WSOP with a full schedule of tournaments including the 888 Poker-sponsored $888 Crazy Eights that starts on June 28. Something new this year is The Big 50, a $500 buy-in event from May 30-June 2 that features a 50,000 starting stack, 50-minute levels, and a guaranteed prize pool of $5 million.

WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart said that the goal this year is “to make the 2019 WSOP a better value all-around.”

Some value may be found in the $1,000 buy-in “Mini Main Event” that begins on July 1. Or perhaps a Six Plus Hold’em tournament – a first for the WSOP – that gets underway on June 2 with a $10,000 entry fee.

If you’re wondering how previous 888 Poker qualifiers may have fared in WSOP Main Event action, Martin Sejer from Denmark hit pay dirt last year when he finished 149th for $57,010. And let’s not forget Tommy Yates in 2015, who turned 1 cent into $19,500, proving that it can be done!
