GG Poker looks like the place to direct your online action in June no matter what your preferred format of poker. As well as having a comprehensive tournament schedule guaranteeing more than $20 million in prize pools, the site is giving away $300,000 in its fast-fold Gold Hunt promotion, and has now announced a special $100,000 leaderboard competition for Omaha players.
The leaderboard competition will run through the whole of June with cash prizes being awarded to the top point earners in four stake categories. Points are awarded per $0.01 contributed to the rake, but don´t expect this to be a high-scoring leaderboard competition because GGPoker only deducts 3% rake from PL Omaha cash games (so, four good reasons to play at GGPoker already).
GGPoker offers PL Omaha cash games at fifteen different stake levels. The reason for there being so many levels is that some tables have a forced ante to help increase the size of the pot. So, whereas at most online poker sites you would expect to find stakes of $0.05/$0.10, $0.10/$0.25, $0.25/$0.50 and so on, at GGPoker the stake levels for PL Omaha cash games are:
Stakes Levels (Antes) for PL Omaha Cash Games at GGPoker | ||
---|---|---|
$0.05/$0.10 | $0.50/$1.00 | $5.00/$10.00 |
$0.08/$0.06 ($0.04) | $0.80/$1.60 ($0.40) | $20.00/$40.00 ($10) |
$0.10/$0.25 | $1.00/$2.00 | $25.00/$50.00 |
$0.20/$0.40 ($0.10) | $2.00/$4.00 | $50.00/$100.00 ($25) |
$0.25/$0.50 | $3.00/$6.00 ($1.50) | $100.00/$200.00 |
One of the best things about there being so many stake levels is that it helps players better manage the volatility of Omaha poker by introducing steps between some of the most frequently played level (although we notice there are no steps between $5.00/$10.00 and $20.00/$40.00). The presence of levels with forced antes also adds a little variety to the game. However, for the purposes of the June Omaha Festival, the four stake categories in which prizes are awarded are:
In total there are 130 cash prizes to be won across the four stake categories. In theory players could win up to four prizes (one in each category), but we suspect any player aiming to cash in the “Featured” stake category will not be spending much time collecting points in the “Low” stakes category. As usual with GGPoker promotions, the prizes are well worth winning.
The Featured stakes category pays ten places deep with prizes ranging from $12,500 for first place to $1,500 for tenth place. In the High stakes category, you will win a prize of between $7,000 and $200 in you finish in the top thirty places. In the Middle stakes category, fifty players will win prizes from $2,000 to $250; and, in the Low stakes category, forty players will win prizes up to $850.
GGPoker will update the leaderboard each day with the points won from the previous day´s action. The site has also announced there will be designated days when “booster points” will be available. We do not yet know whether the booster points will be available all day on the special designated days or between specific “Happy Hours”. As soon as GGPoker tells us, we´ll be telling you.
In addition to the valuable tournament schedule, the Gold Hunt promotion, the Omaha Festival, and only 3% rake (the four good reasons to play at GGPoker mentioned earlier) the site is also running promotions in June in which you can win a month´s subscription to the PokerGO TV channel and in which you will get a boost to your winnings if you capture a pot with Four of a Kind or better.
These promotions are on top of the “7 Good Reasons to Play at GGPoker” featured in our [isGeoAllowed room=”ggpoker”]GGPoker review[/isGeoAllowed][isNotGeoAllowed]GGPoker review[/isNotGeoAllowed], which explains more about each reason – including the 200% first deposit bonus for new players and the unique “Honeymoon” promotion, which gives new players an opportunity to boost their bankrolls via personalized missions while experiencing every element of the GGPoker platform.
