Winamax.es Launches in Spain with Multiple Promotions

Winamax.esEarlier today, Winamax Poker launched its pan-European platform enabling players in Spain to join its French playing pool. The French market leader is not wasting any time trying to making inroads into PokerStars´ European dominance, and is offering new players from Spain a stack of valuable promotions.

At the end of May, we published details of a survey that asked players in Spain what they would put on the top of their wish lists for online poker in Spain. In second place – behind a review of the Spanish tax system with 29.41% of the vote – was the arrival of Winamax in Spain with 28.36% of the vote. That day has finally come, and Winamax is pulling out all the stops to attract online poker players away its only serious competitor in Spain – PokerStars.

New players registering an account from Spain will be eligible for a 100% Welcome Bonus up to €500, freeroll tournaments in which they can win a trip to Las Vegas, dozens of challenges with monthly cash prizes in excess of €100,000, a better Rewards system than PokerStars is currently offering and – this coming Sunday – a special “Sunday Surprise” tournament with a buy-in of €10 and a guaranteed prize pool of €50,000 PLUS a Fiat 500 Lounge added to the prize pool.

Not a Bad Way to Announce Your Arrival

Winamax Poker´s arrival in Spain has been a long time coming. It took more than six months for the approval of an online poker license (Winamax.es is still waiting for its sports betting license) despite the site having been the number one destination for French players since PokerStars stopped allowing overseas players on the .fr platform in February 2017. Now – for Spanish players at least – the wait is going to be worth it as Winamax Poker is offering new players from Spain:

  • A 100% match first deposit up to €500 which is released in five increments of 20% and which players have three months to clear.
  • Fifty days of freeroll tournaments – each with €1,000 in cash prizes and a first prize of a trip for two to Las Vegas including flights.
  • A comprehensive range of seven different weekly and monthly challenges with more than €100,000 in cash up for grabs each month.
  • An accelerated VIP program which will reward players who reach Platinum status by the end of August with automatic elevation to Diamond status.
  • A special “Sunday Surprise” tournament with a Fiat 500 Lounge (worth about €10,000) added to the guaranteed prize pool of €50,000.

Can Players Outside Spain Register on Winamax.es?

It looks like it. In much the same way as PokerStars´ allows non-residents of France, Spain and Portugal to play on its pan-European platform, the Winamax.es terms and conditions state any player can register for an account provided that online poker is not illegal in their country of residence and their participation is allowed by the Spanish regulator (which will currently exclude Portuguese or Italian players).

The site only offers Live Chat for registered players, and at the time of writing this article we have not yet received a reply to our email from Winamax´s Customer Services. However there is one interesting clause in the terms and conditions that leads us to believe we will be allowed to register with Winamax.es later today and take advantage of the site´s opening offers:

If you reside in a country other than Spain, and do not have a DNI [National Identity Number] or NIE [Foreigners identity Number – usually used for tax purposes], we will activate a provisional account. It is up to you to verify that the legislation of your country allows you to register and play on our website.

If – as we suspect – non-residents are allowed to play, the Winamax pan-European platform will throw down a serious challenge to PokerStars´ European dominance. So, will you take advantage of the free poker money and your opportunity to win a trip to Las Vegas and a new car? Or will you grind your way through the weekly and monthly challenges in order to achieve the lucrative Diamond VIP status? We will. Nos vemos en las mesas!
