Ivey and Dwan in High-Stakes action in Macau
Usually when we talk of high-stakes poker action between Phil Ivey and Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan we instantly think of the virtual tables on Full Tilt Poker, this week however the two are competing in some of the biggest cash-games ever played in Macau, China, as the APT is in town.
Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, John Juanda and Chau Giang are just four of the big-name players in town for the APT Macau Main Event, however it is the cash-games which have grabbed all four players attention in recent days.
The four of them have been battling it out in No-Limit Hold’em games against very successful Chinese businessmen and the game had blinds of HK$5,000/$10,000 which equates to around US$625/$1,250 and reports have stated that there was HK$40million on the table at one point, which is around $5.2million US Dollars.
Rumours have suggested that John Juanda is the only one of the four pros to have a profit, with Dwan, Giang and Ivey all dropping money at the table however that hasn’t deterred them. They are expected to double the stakes in the next session so we could see some very heavy losses or some big wins for the pro players.
The cash-game action has been taking place at the Hard Rock Poker Room and Tom Dwan found the action was too good to refuse despite being entered into a poker tournament. Dwan quickly lost interest in the $5,000 buy-in APT event and had instructed someone to call on him when he was down to 20 big blinds in the tournament and then moved all-in, however he once got all-in with 10-4 and actually doubled-up again.
We hope to hear more juicy gossip about the cash-games and will keep you updated.
I also have a great website to recommend today – NoDepositBonus.com. This is without a doubt the best website for players interested in no deposit poker bonuses meaning you can build a large bankroll from nothing – it doesn’t get any better than that!
